When in Austin it’s BBQ and one of the Uchis. I became an Uchi follower after rooting for my guy Paul Qui on Top Chef. He was racking up win after win staying true to his technique and creativity for Asian Food. I visited Uchi during the transition period of Paul opening Qui. It’s all good, Tyson Cole has created an institution that’s helps Austin be one of the most intriguing food cities in the US.
The sushi here is on point. Fresh nice cuts of fish with picturesque presentation. Uchi does a good job incorporating the contemporary and still highlighting the tradition. I didn’t order any rolls. The price tag is upwards of four dollar signs so go if you got money to spend.
